Glasscoat is a high performance glass fiber reinforced polymer coating that was first developed decades ago for use in the industrial coatings industry for corrosion protection of steel and concrete. Over the past 35 years, the polymers used have been specifically modified for use in swimming pools, spas and other water surfaces.

The use of corrosion resistant polymeric materials for resurfacing swimming pools and spas is revolutionary, as the traditional materials used are paint or cement based; and unfortunately cement finishes are porous and break down in pool water. As for the paint, it must be repainted regularly in order to maintain the waterproofing characteristics of the surfaces of the pool and to prevent damage by chemicals to the concrete.

Polymer materials are inert and not subject to degradation in the presence of hot water or pool chemicals. Therefore, Glasscoat comes with a 2 year warranty, while cementitious finishes like white marble, quartz and paint type plasters offer little or no warranty, due to their inherent shortcomings. Warranties on cementitious materials are very often void and cover virtually nothing.
